VoiDeT:: Hi Stefan, firstly tell us all about yourself! Who are you? Where do you come from and why are you here? *said in the nicest possible way*
WeichentechnikkHello Richard ! My name is Stefan Wietek aka. Weichentechnikk I am 21 Years old but January 2006 I get 22. Live in Detmold its between Hannover and Dortmund in Germany.. and I am here at Nightgen because its a really nice internet site which introduce djs of different styles where the people get all information about the Artist's I like it to communicate with the people and Nightgen is
a good way to communicate with people.
VoiDeT:: Thank you for the kind comments, we are all pleased to have you here. So what brought you first to this intensely hard music style you so much love?
Weichentechnikk I am fascinated about the energy in this music style ... I can bring out all my minds feeling in this music ... but the most people don't understand this music most time they say .. muahah that’s aggressive boring looping techno every track the same ... but this is definitely wrong ..because they are listen always the drums not all that what is between the drums.
VoiDeT:: I know those people all too well, how would you best describe your music?
Weichentechnikk I would say .. Its a different style as normal hardtechno .... coz. Its a mix of energetic drumming and strange btw crazy psycho synthesizer sounds .... I love it to create massive and ill breaks ... which I think a big potential on energy give.
VoiDeT:: excellent, so I guess we should just call it Weichi Techno! Why don’t you tell us how you first found or fell in love with the music?
Weichentechnikk yes ok you can call how you want ... its I think the direction of hardtechno with influences of hardcore /industrial hardcore... but you can define it by your self ... the main important think is that you like it

VoiDeT:: So when did this all begin? How long have you been producing and Dj-ing for?
Weichentechnikk It have began in 1997 I was 13 years old ... and began to learn first time simple software for cutting audio files ... later I get some software as present from my parents for Christmas ... then I began to produce was also in 97' then I began to produce house music and trance sometimes hardtrance ... later as I get internet the way to make my music popular like on some internet forums like Uptrax , my own music ... the people began to know hmm this guy is well and then I was also often there in the forum 100 charts under the first 10 artists ... then I began to discover my dark side the side bad site of my soul and began to produce hard-techno .... but it was on end of 1999...
VoiDeT:: Sounds like a strong musical background. So far I have only heard about producing, you Dj also correct? What do you prefer, dj-ing or producing? Or can you not compare the two?
Weichentechnikk yes I say actually I am not a dj ... I am a live act ... ok if must make an dj set ok no problem I can mix with vinyl have here 2 technics and one reloop turntable and many many vinyl’s .. but I prefer to produce .. also live act on parties .. because .. I have then more flexibility to react on the crowd .. and I think its a bit more personal ... that’s why I produce ... I will bring near to the crowd , what is my personal style of hardtechno ... and its more energetic and more pumping then from vinyl .. vinyl’s are soo good in things about pumping how they are mastered if you made live you can change if it not enough push behind the drums you can set up your settings for example compressor or eq or so on ..
VoiDeT:: True, live acts do sound fun. I saw your live act with your partner in crime Waldhaus at the USB camp at nature one, so much power. Could you tell us more stories or your favorite location you have played at? Perhaps even your worst experience?
Weichentechnikk yes also I must say for me I LOVE " HUNGARY/ kashmir club " "SLOVENIA/ hala golovec" and "SARDINIA/ openair rave (poolparty)" those parties I will never forget !! the crowd was amazing never seen sooo many happy and dancing people in other countries ... they know how to do good parties !!! if you played on partys like them you know why you make your music !!!
VoiDeT:: The Weichentechnikk story is not 100% complete without talking about your partner producer and I believe long time friend, Marwin aka Waldhaus. How did you guys come together and why?
Weichentechnikk hehehe yes its true .. but you not ask me about him

VoiDeT:: Marwin is a great guy! How do you think the hard techno scene is going as a whole? Firstly how is it in Germany, your home country, and do you feel it is growing internationally? Also do you find this a problem, do you feel as though hard techno is and can only be unique to Germany?
Weichentechnikk I think about the hardtechno scene its like a big family ... every body knows every body (I mean it between the dj's and producers) and the crowd respects our works... yes I can say here in Germany the great time of hardtechno is over most time here in Germany on parties will be played house or black music ... its becomes more a underground style like in the beginnings of hardtechno ... but I like it ... I don't need it to make commercial music ... when I will make money with music is guaranteed the wrong way to produce hard techno ... we are one group/ family which love our music ... we need it to get crazy to have fun to dance .... but in the last time I see that more and more countries get more interested in hardtechno for example east of Europe ... the people love hard techno its the same there as here in the end of 90's the big techno wave .. I am happy too see that ... I think not that hardtechno only unique in Germany ... but ok its fact the most popular hard-techno djs/producers are from Germany ... I think I must not tell you who ... but I can say and its also fact .. In other countries of the world also djs / producers they are also soo amazing how our German djs /producers that’s for sure.... but .. another fact is a group of German djs and producers have build up this hard techno scene ...
VoiDeT:: Would you consider this wave of techno, a phase? Something that is seized by the flood of new entrants, but when the flood dries up the waves have sucked the scene dry. When I say dry, I mean lack of interest, and a split scene, some of which have moved onto the next phase of the wave. I believe this is how the commercial world works within music, but do you ever think hardtechno will be hit with this? A lot of people from the hardtechno community argue and swear that bootlegs are inviting the commercial infection into our somewhat underground scene, do you agree or disagree with these people?
Weichentechnikk hmmm I will not say it is a phase ... I hope it is not a phase I will say it is a music style like every other one ... and its right that you say a big wave of new entrants. in this year was coming a very big wave of new entrants ... yes I think it destroy a bit the hardtechno scene when you must see that some people who have absolutely no plan about music think they are producers and use loops from I say real and good producers ... and also get good critics from the listeners about their work ... I think .. that’s not producing... its easy to rip some loops make new tone or a effect over that and say hey people here listen its my new or my first track .... they have failed the art to produce music .. and I say in my opinion this is not more then absolute shit what they do ok now the people can hate about that what I have said .. But that is my opinion and I stay behind this. But I say also there some guys which are really great ... they get sometimes for her work not enough respect ... but they are the future... the real producers which know what they want .. How they have to program their synthesizers and drum machines ... I think Marwin and me we are moved away from the scene of new entrants ... coz. We are no strangers in the international HT scene .. so I think ... and yes .. I also don’t like this bootlegs too .. Because ... it's the same like other music styles ... cover over cover versions of the old good songs.. Ok its right some hardtechno remixes are really really well ... and they rockzzz that’s true ... but it is commercial music .. and has nothing to do with hardtechno ... as a producer you can build up traxx which more rockzzz as bootlegs ... and to say it short ... yes I agree ... no bootlegs more ... p.s. I have also made a bootleg from faithless - insomnia ... but I was not for commercial use it was for a friend he told please make a remix of this track for me and I have done ... and post it for our internet from UNITED SCHRANZ BORD .. short USB.
VoiDeT:: Interesting point of view! So Stefan I think we will leave it here for today. Was really great to listen to your perspective on the hardtechno scene. I am sure we will be hearing more from you very soon, I and I am sure the rest of the Nightgen members and fans wish you all the best for the future with your productions. If you have any last comments or points you wish to say, please do so!!
