uadeloupe ist ein französisches Überseedepartement im südlichen Karibischen Meer. Die beiden größten Inseln der Inselgruppe ähneln in ihrer Form einem Schmetterling und sind nur durch die schmale Meerenge Riviere Salée getrennt. Auf der hügeligen Insel Grande-Terre gibt es lange Strände und Zuckerrohrfelder. Auf der Insel Basse-Terre erstreckt sich der Parc National de la Guadeloupe mit den Wasserfällen von Carbet und dem Vulkan La Grande Soufrière. Zu den kleineren Inseln gehören Marie-Galante und La Désirade
